Happy 1st Birthday Briton!

My Sweetest Briton – you are now one year old. It seems like only yesterday that I was holding you in my arms at the hospital. That was one of the happiest days of my life, and since then you have made every day a happy one! You my little guy, made me a mommy – and that is by far the biggest gift that God has entrusted me with.

This past year, we have shared many hugs, kisses, laughs, lessons and worries. You have gone from a little infant that depended completely on your daddy and I, to a little boy who is exploring the world all on his own. You love to walk (sometimes run) everywhere, you dance whenever you hear music, you love anything with wheels (cars, trucks, trains), you play with my pots and pans all the time, you blow kisses, clap your hands , make the silliest faces, and you have a smile that can light up a room!

Briton - you have taught me how to be stronger, more patient, be less selfish, laugh more, love deeper than I ever thought possible and pray harder. You’ve opened my eyes to what pure joy really looks like. And for that I thank you!

Your daddy and I will keep on teaching you about Jesus, about life, about love and about hardships. We will always guide you. However, the rest is in God’s hands. So my prayer is that he blesses you with the wisdom to make the right choices; the courage to stand up for what you believe; a love that will pour out on everyone you meet; joy that overwhelms you, and a faith that moves mountains.
And Don’t You Ever Forget…..How much I love you!

Below are some pictures of your birthday party! You had such a fun time and lots of family and friends came to help you celebrate!

We also got Briton's one year old pictures taken a few weeks ago, so here are some of our favorite shots. Thanks Jennie Krueger for doing such a great job!

Briton - Months 10 & 11!

Briton my little bubba - you are 11 months old and counting! You never cease to amaze me with how smart you're getting, how silly you are, and how constantly happy you are!!!

You are WALKING!!! You officially started walking at about 10 1/2 months old - and now nothing is slowing you down. You get up off the ground all by yourself and you are already to the point where you would rather walk everywhere then crawl at all. You have also said your first word during these passed few months. You have always said the word "dada." - but we weren't quite sure if that was just baby talk or the real thing. So...your dad has spent the last few weeks going over and over the word "ball" with you.  Then, you finally said it. BALL is your first word and now you say it whenever you see one! You also love to wave bye-bye. You kind of pick and choose who you want to wave to, but you know what it means to say bye-bye!

I think your favorite part of the day is bath time. Once you hear that water running in the bathroom, you take off to see if it's for you! The only thing is that I wish you would just play with your toys while taking a bath - all you want to do is stand up and grab whatever you can reach. Briton - this is not safe and you make mama's heart skip a beat sometimes. You have also started to make the silliest little face. You wrinkle up your nose, show your teeth and start to laugh and laugh. It is probably the cutest thing I've ever seen and I love when you do it.

Along with walking, these passed few weeks have brought a lot of bumps and bruises your way! You seem to always have some kind of battle wound - but you're a little tough dude and you get through it. Daycare has also been in full swing for a while now, and last month you caught a case of the pink-eye! It didn't seem to bother you at all - not until we had to put the drops in your eyes. Oh my goodness was that a struggle!

We have kept you busy with all sorts of things these passed few months. You have watched some Husker games, played with your cousins, celebrated some birthday's, went for bike rides and hung out with some friends!

Briton - you are going to be ONE next month! It has been so incredible to watch you grow into a little boy! You are our little blessing that I pray continues to grow up healthy and full of joy!

Briton - Month 9

Briton you turned 9 months old on August 2!!! It seems like this last month you have turned into my little “BOY” rather than my little “BABY.” Your personality is starting to show more and more. You get quite frustrated when you cannot do something or have something that you want. You kind of growl/whine when you don’t get your way, and at times your face can even turn a bit red. But….you also love to laugh, and that smile of yours could brighten up anyone’s day. Sometimes I’ll catch you looking at yourself in the mirror or playing with your toys – and all the sudden you just start to giggle. AHH…..I just love it!

You are continuing to be a little busy body. Your favorite two places are the bathroom and the kitchen. In the bathroom, unfortunately, the toilet water is what you love and in the kitchen, it’s the tupperware drawer and cupboards. Another fun thing you like to do is knock down your blocks. Your dad and I cannot stack them fast enough – we turn around and there you are, itching to knock them over. You also seem to be getting braver when it comes to standing. You have been walking along the furniture for quite a while, but now you are just starting to take your hands off of things for a few seconds. But - once you realize you are not holding onto anything, you fall to the floor. Walking is something I am not going to push – I already have my hands full with your speed crawling!

This past month was also the first time I have ever left you over night. Your daddy and I flew to Colorado for a weekend to celebrate a friend’s wedding, so we left you with your Nana and Papa. It was a little hard to leave you behind, but you had a great time while we were away! You also took your first trip to the ZOO this month - you were very intrigued and confused by all the animals.

We have had a wonderful summer together, but you turning 9 months means our summer is officially over! Back to daycare and our daily routine!
