A Few Firsts!!!

This past weekend was a very busy and momentous one in the Ehly household. There was a lot of "Firsts" that occurred for both Alex and Briton, and this momma was just kind of along for the ride.

On Saturday, January 26 my oldest brother Jason and his new Bride, Stacie, got married!!! It was such a wonderful wedding and we all had a great time! I am so happy for the two of them, and I know so many great things are to come! I am a little biased, but the wedding was even more wonderful because both Alex and Briton were involved in it. Briton was one of the ring bearers and it was his FIRST wedding ever. He was so cute in his little vest and pants and he was such a good boy all weekend.

Alex was also involved in the wedding, as their wedding photographer! Alex is pretty skilled at using the camera, and although he is modest when it comes to his skills, Jason and Stacie asked him to take their wedding pictures and he obliged. It was his FIRST time ever taking pictures at a wedding and he did an amazing job! Maybe he'll even make photography a side job...Haha!!! Here are a few of the great pics he took:

Briton also got to meet some of his family for the FIRST time this weekend. All of my aunts, uncles and cousins from out of town were at the wedding, and they were overjoyed to finally get to meet Briton. He was one spoiled little guy - with all the attention on him!

After all the wedding festivities were over, we had to head back to Omaha on Saturday night because Alex gave the message at church on Sunday morning. It was the FIRST time he was responsible for putting together the entire service. He did everything including - the children's time, the main message, and all the creative elements. The service all came together very well and he did such a fabulous job "Clearing the Stage!!!"

It was a weekend of many "FIRSTS" for the boys in my life. You could say I am one proud wife and mom!!! And Congratulations to the newly married Mr. and Mrs. Jason Pfister!!!

Christmas in Pictures!

Well folks.....I realize my blogging skills have been lacking these last few months, but I think I have a pretty good excuse! Briton pretty much takes up every hour of every minute of my day. I mean it's even hard to find time to shower and eat lunch, let alone blog! Ha!

With that being said, we had a great Christmas with both of our families! It was a little different this year with Alex having to work on Christmas Eve until about 9:00pm, so we celebrated Christmas Eve and Christmas morning with just the three of us! Although it was different and I missed being with my family, it was nice to wake up and celebrate our own little Christmas that morning! We also celebrated both of our birthday's this past week and they were pretty uneventful. Alex and I discussed that our birthday's just aren't the same as they used to be, just another day in our lives. I guess once you hit a certain age, it really doesn't matter anymore.

So here is how we celebrated our Christmas......in Pictures!

We hope everyone had a blessed and Merry Christmas!!!
Happy New Year!!!

One Month Old!!!

Alex and I can hardly believe we have had our little man for one month now! People always say that having kids changes your life, but you really don't grasp that until you actually have one of your own.....and man oh man has Briton really rocked our world, but in the best way possible!!!

The past month has been spent introducing Briton to a lot of new family and friends, getting advice from other parents, taking short naps whenever we can, learning new things about Briton, parenting and ourselves, and spending a lot of time at home with just the three of us!

Here is a recap of Briton's first month in the Ehly family:

1. Alex's mom stayed with us the first night we were home & then my mom came to stay with us the first week Briton was home to help me out. It was a huge blessing and I don't think I could have done it without them.

2. We have gotten to take Briton on a few walks this month because the weather has been so nice! This was also great for me because I needed to get out of the house on occasion.

3. I have learned that when you have a 2 week old,  it is very possible to only get one load of laundry done the entire day, and that my house will never again stay as clean as it did before Briton was born.

4. Briton has gotten to experience five Husker games this past month, 4 good ones and one very ugly one!

5. We have learned that Briton only likes to go #2 in a clean diaper, right after we change him. Seriously, this never fails!!!

6. Briton got to celebrate his first Thanksgiving! We celebrated with the Pfister family on Thanksgiving day and then celebrated with the Ehly family the following weekend.

The whole Pfister Family!!!

7. Briton loves to sleep on his Daddy's chest, and probably would sleep there all night long if we let him.

8. He got a little cold last week and is finally starting to get over it. I think it was harder on me then it was on him!

9. I have also learned that just when you think you have a routine in place for eating and sleeping, something changes, like a growth spurt, and then you have to figure it all out again.

10. Briton has met pretty much all of his extended family, and he loves his cousins!!!

Ehly Family Cousins - Byron, Cameron and Michael
Pfister Family Cousins - Bennett, Anne and Madelyn

11. Finally, we have learned how truly blessed we are to have family, friends, and neighbors that will go out of their way to make us a meal, get us a gift or just come meet our little guy. Briton has gotten to meet so many wonderful people!

God has given us such a wonderful little gift! We can't wait to see what the future holds for all of us!

Until next time, goodbye from Briton!!!
